There seems to have been "copious amounts of alcohol consumed at a well known nightclub in Bruntsfield" prior to the Championship and Mr Stanger failed to turn up citing a prior engagement at a birthday party. |

Summary |
In a word - TERRIBLE. After being helped onto the first tee, Mr Bell managed a good drive whilst Mr. Scott, mainly to due to consumption of less alcohol, managed his usual boring 250 yds up the middle strike. Mr Dickson, desperately hoping for his usual slice, drove straight out of bounds. Miraculously though, Mr Dickson managed to turn his game around to steel the first of many titles During the round Mr Bell was seen asleep in at least one greenside bunker (a trick later repeated at Portmarnock), Mr Scott swore no less than ten times at his putter (also repeated throughout his Diggers career) and Mr Dickson seriously considered selling his clubs after four holes (there's a theme developing here). In his absence, Mr Stanger was suitably vilified by all. |
