Set in a former European backwater, this tough and financially challenging course is nobody's fool.
In a vain attempt to reduce costs, David Lean's panoramic epic Lawrence of Arabia was actually filmed on the famous links course but there is no chance of a sequel as Mr. Graham has shifted most of the sand in the bunkers back onto the beach and out to sea.
Sleeping accommodation however, comes highly recommended by Mr Bell - the aforementioned bunkers providing a much valued temporary place of rest - and the well appointed adjoining hotel provides succour and welcome sustenance for the weary golfer.
Close by lies the village of Dublin, a run down collection of public houses populated mostly by itinerant Stag and Hen parties. The local brew is of a high standard and but can produce some very strange side-effects - blurred vision, incoherence, instability and invincibility.
Admittedly, it is a strange feeling to be in a country where English is (passingly) the first language, where traffic is on the left and the climate is `changeable` and yet one uses foreign currency but the welcome is especially warm and the nights just fly by in a blur - don't they Mr. Scott ?
